Silvio Rondelli

Interview
3D + Art Direction

Silvio's practice is rooted in surrealism. The worlds and characters that he brings to life through his art are mesmeric and takes us to new fantastical worlds. His mastery of the medium is reflected in his list of clients including Hogan, Diesel, Moncler and Swarovski and Cordusio. We spoke to him about his multiple creative inspirations, working in 3D and his process.

Where do your creative inspirations come from?

As a 3D artist with skills in sound design and surreal art, my creative inspirations can come from a variety of sources. Mainly the feedback of my fans and followers. Personal experiences. My own life experiences can provide a rich source of creative inspiration. I have a particular memory or feeling that I want to explore through my works. Nature. The shapes, colors, and patterns found in plants, animals, and landscapes can inspire my work and try to give it a unique and organic quality. Dreams and the subconscious. As a creator of surreal art, sometimes I find inspiration in my dreams and the workings of my subconscious mind. Exploring my own psyche sometimes can lead to unexpected and fascinating imagery. As a sound designer, I find inspiration in the sounds or in the music you listen to. The rhythm, melody, the 80's vibes and mood inspire everyday the way I approach my work and the emotions it evokes.Ultimately, the other great artists. The real end-goal is to stay open to new experiences and ideas, stay receptive, and to keep exploring and experimenting watching the world of the art evolving around me in aesthetics and techniques.

What excites you about working in 3D?

The ability to create anything I can imagine. With 3D software, I have the power to bring my wildest ideas to life. I can create entire worlds, characters, and objects from scratch, and manipulate them in any way. I love creating stuff that did not yet exist. Not less important, the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary field. 3D art combines elements of design, engineering, and technology. With my sound creativity I can also incorporate audio into my  works, making for a truly immersive and complete experience.

What are the projects you are most proud of and why?

In these last months I had the chance to work with big brands like Hogan, Diesel, Moncler, Swarovski, Cordusio. I’m very grateful. The clients are always excited during the brief and I love to amaze them with great final results. Every project is a challenge. Every time I improve my skills and techniques, and every time I grow as a human being. The stores video installation for Moncler... I am very proud of that.
