Giacomo Piovesan

Interview
3D + Art Direction

Giacomo is deeply inspired by the world of fashion and photography, which in turn shape his practice. The way that he creates beauty and texture in 3D is exceptional and the results are truly mesmeric. We spoke to him about his creative inspirations, digital and all things Web3.

What are your biggest inspirations for your work?

As someone who is deeply inspired by the world of fashion and photography, I find that my creative work is often shaped by these two mediums. In particular, I am drawn to editorial, portrait, and fashion photography, which offer me a wealth of inspiration and ideas for my own projects.

One of my favorite ways to find inspiration is by immersing myself in the latest fashion shows, both in person and online. I am constantly amazed by the innovative designs and cutting-edge styles that emerge each season, and I am always looking for ways to incorporate these ideas into my own work.

In addition to fashion photography, I also draw inspiration from landscapes and urban environments, which offer their own unique beauty and creative potential. Whether I am exploring the streets of Milan or admiring the natural beauty of the countryside, I am always on the lookout for new ideas and fresh perspectives.

When it comes to the artists and designers who inspire me most, there are a few individuals who stand out above the rest. Daniel Harsham, Julius Juul, Demna Gvasalia, Virgil Abloh, and Gaspar Noé are just a few of the many talented individuals who have influenced my work over the years. Whether I am admiring their bold and innovative designs, or studying their unique approaches to storytelling and creative expression, I am always learning from their work and striving to incorporate their ideas into my own.

How does the digital enhance creativity for you?

Digital can enhance creativity in several ways. First, digital tools allow me to create and manipulate content more quickly and efficiently than traditional methods. In addition, digital offers the opportunity to experiment with new techniques and tools that might not otherwise be available.

The global connection that digital offers also allows creatives like me to access a wide range of sources of inspiration and collaborate with other creatives from around the world. Digital distribution allows me to reach a wider audience and explore new forms of creative expression. In summary, digital offers me many opportunities to expand my creativity in ways that would not otherwise be possible.

What interests/excites you most about Web3?

Web3 is the next evolution of the Internet, focused on decentralisation, transparency and user control. One of the most exciting aspects of Web3 is the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionise the way we interact online, enabling secure transactions and data storage without the need for intermediaries or centralized authorities.

Web3 also offers exciting possibilities for us as artists, allowing us to directly monetise our work and interact with audiences in new and innovative ways. This could lead to a more open and democratized creative economy, where anyone with talent and passion can find an audience and support for their work.

Overall, the potential of Web3 to transform the way we interact, create, and operate online is what makes it such an exciting and compelling field to watch and participate in.

What are your currently working on?

I am currently working on several creative projects, including Materia, an idea to which I have been devoting my attention for more than a year. Materia aims to be a creative label that aims to create a bridge between the digital and physical worlds through the production of design objects and exclusive pieces of contemporary luxury fashion connected with all the possibilities that Web3 offers.

To pursue this project, I am striving to continuously improve my creative skills, studying and experimenting with new design programs and techniques.

In addition, I plan to return to painting, a passion I have neglected in recent times but feel I want to resume. Other projects I am working on are still top secret, but I hope to share them with the world soon. In any case, I am very excited about all that the future holds for me in terms of creative expression, and I hope to continue to develop projects that inspire and surprise people.
